Who we are
Data Moose, LLC builds a governed data platform and the AskMoose assistant for nonprofit organizations. This policy covers datamoose.org and the information we handle when providing our services.
Information we collect from this website
Contact details you give us. If you book a call, submit a form, or subscribe to our notes, we collect the name, email address, organization, and any message you provide.
Basic usage data. Our hosting and analytics record standard request information such as pages visited, referring page, approximate region, browser, and device type. We use this to understand which pages are useful and to keep the site working.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site.
Client data in the platform
When you become a client, we read data from the systems you connect and load it into a SQL warehouse dedicated to your organization. That data remains yours.
We do not pool client data across organizations, and we do not use it to train public models. Data Moose reads from your source systems and does not write back to them.
Access is limited to the Data Moose staff who support your engagement. Connections run over an SSL VPN to a dedicated server with its own network, switch, and firewall, monitored around the clock.
How we use information
To respond to your enquiry, schedule and run discovery calls, deliver and support the platform, meet contractual and legal obligations, and improve the site and our services.
If you subscribe to our notes, we use your email only to send those notes. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.
Service providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the business: website hosting, email delivery, scheduling, and customer relationship management. Each is bound by contract to handle information only as needed to provide their service.
We disclose information to others only when you ask us to, or when required by law.
Retention
Website enquiries are kept for as long as needed to answer them and to maintain a record of the relationship. Subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe.
Client warehouses carry a seven-day running backup by default, with longer retention available by agreement. At the end of an engagement, client data is deleted or returned according to the terms of that agreement.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or unsubscribe from our notes at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We honour those requests regardless of where you are.
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies needed to serve pages and measure basic usage. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Children
This site is intended for professional use by nonprofit staff. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how we handle your information, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, tell you directly.
